Hands-On Training Workshop On Programmable Logic Controllers

The IEEE Madras Section in association with IEEE Madras Young Professionals and IEEE TEMS Madras Chapter have organized the “Hands-On Training Workshop On Programmable Logic Controllers” on 5th October, 2019.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sudeendra Koushik (Board of Governors, IEEE TEMS), Mr. P Prashanth (Sr. Engineer – Factory Automation Centre), Mr. Abhishek Appaji (YP Lead, IEEE TEMS MMC India), Mr. Arun(Vice Chairman IEEE TEMS Madras Chapter) and  Mr. Aravindhan Anbazhagan(Chairman, IEEE Madras Young Professionals).

The session was handled by Mr. P Prashanth, who joined Mitsubishi Electric India in 2015 and takes care of Training activity in Chennai and Coimbatore region, and takes care of Industrial robot repair activityAround 38 Participants from 11 SB across Madras section took part in this event.

The session started with basics of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Role of an Engineer and Factory Automation Products. Then the software (GX-Works 3) was distributed to the participants by the coordinators. Student members from various institutions had participated. The Software designing steps necessary for implementing a programmable controller system using ladder logic had been taught to the participants. The session was very much interesting and interactive. The session was completed by  felicitating resource person with the memento by the Chairman, IEE Madras Section, Dr.P A Manoharan, currently serving as the Director, M/s Robota Technology Innovation Pvt. Ltd., Chennai  with the memento, followed by vote of thanks.

IEEE TEMS & Young Professionals meetup

The IEEE TEMS & Young Professionals meetup was successfully held on 5th October, 2019 at Anna University, Guindy, Chennai. It was organised by IEEE Madras Section in technical collaboration with IEEE  Madras Young Professionals and IEEE TEMS Madras Chapter.

The Event drew a crowd of around 35 Young Professionals and GSM from various institutions. The session kicked off with a welcome speech by     Dr. P A Manoharan Chairman, IEEE Madras Section, currently serving as the Director, M/s Robota Technology Innovation Pvt. Ltd., Chennai. This was followed by a talk by Prof. Dr. G Kulanthaivel, presently chairman, IEEE TEMS Madras Chapter. Then the session was continued by Dr.Sudeendra Koushik(Board of Governors, IEEE TEMS) sharing on “Education, Employment, Experience, Expertise”.

Subsequently, Mr. Abhishek Appaji (Young Professionals Lead, IEEE TEMS MMC India) on evolving with IEEE, gave personal references to his IEEE Journey. The session drew out with a confabulation where delegates discussed various problems faced as an Engineer. This was a fruitful discussion which generated a need for organising more YP relevant activities. Ultimately, the session terminated with the vote of thanks by Mr. Aravindhan Anbazhagan, Chairman, IEEE Madras Young Professionals.
