Technical Committee (TC) on Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT)
Subcommittee: Commercialization and Venture Development

The focus of this subcommittee goes beyond fundamental research, as we will also focus on innovation, commercialization, and entrepreneurship, which align with the following IEEE TEMS focus areas:
1) Moving product/services from idea to market
2) Identifying and implementing successful projects, and systems
3) Integrating technology for capability and productivity
4) Balancing the norms of society, government, and regulators
This subcommittee comprises C-level executives or senior managers from companies that are active in the field, entrepreneurs and investors, as well as academic-entrepreneurs and researchers interested in commercializing their solutions.
Expected activities:
- Meetings once every six months, if not more frequent ad-hoc meetings as needed
- Join shark tank events where research teams from the TC will present their ideas and research for potential commercialization
- Provide opportunities for industry members of this subcommittee to connect with the various research groups in the TC, for example via webinars, invited speaking opportunities at conferences, and shark tank events
- Provide a forum for industry members to reach out to students and graduates, for example via webinars, conferences, and shark tank events
Expectations
- Researchers: Active engagement with industry and other academic TC members to identify research collaboration and commercialization opportunities
- Exposing students to the relevant industry members for future recruitment
- Industry members: Active participation on project mentorship or as an advisor for spinout companies, and financial sponsorship in events such as shark tank events
