MSUP and IEEE TEMS Achieved a Strategic Cooperation, and Joined Hands to Upgrade the Industrial Landscape

At present, across the world a new round of scientific and technical revolution and industrial transformation with cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, and 5G at the core are accelerating the development of the new generation of information technology industry, and the digital tide with the characteristics of digitization, networking, informatization and intellectualization is sweeping across the whole world.

Microsoft, Amazon, JD, Xiaomi and other technology-based enterprises have achieved digital transformation through continuous technological innovation. There is no doubt that the era to come will belong to the technology- based organizations possessing the research and development ability.

However, on the road towards becoming a technology-based organization, the innovation managers face the ever- increasing demands for upgrading and transformation. How to rebuild the competitive strength of enterprises through new technology is doubtless an important question that each organization is reflecting.

In order to help more technology-based enterprises grow rapidly, msup and IEEE TEMS (Technology and Engineering Management Society) started the multidimensional and multi-level deep cooperation to explore the competence upgrading in key management positions of technology-based organizations in an age of new technology, and help forge the learning paths complying with future development within the enterprise.

On September 19, at the signing ceremony of the 47th Beijing MPD Technical Supervisor Workshop, msup and IEEE TEMS achieved a strategic cooperation in the aspects such as members, conferences, publication, training, and formed a long-term, comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. Both parties will explore and study the paths of technological innovation and evolution.

Mr. Liu Fuqiang, the founder and CEO of msup, Mr. Hua Ning, the senior director of IEEE in Asia Pacific region, Dr. Hu Shiyan, the chairman of the professional education committee of IEEE TEMS (Technology and Engineering Management Society), Dr. Zhou Yuan, the chairman of North China region of IEEE TEMS (Technology and Engineering Management Society) were present at the signing ceremony; Mr. Andy Chen, the chairman of IEEE TEMS (Technology and Engineering Management Society), Mr. Ravikiran Annaswamy, the vice chairman of IEEE TEMS (Technology and Engineering Management Society), Dr. Huang Zhenqiu, the chairman of South China region of IEEE TEMS (Technology and Engineering Management Society), Dr. Lu Chengzhe, the chairman of Central China region of IEEE TEMS (Technology and Engineering Management Society) participated in the signing via the cloud.

Exploration of the strategic R&D evolution in an age of new technology

In the conference, Liu Fuqiang, the founder and CEO of msup, first delivered a speech. He said, nowadays new technologies emerged out of old ones, and one technology was replaced by another. Agile minds and open source spirit prevailed, and technology had become the central theme of the era. In technology-based organizations, technological thinking was required in more and more key positions, and more and more enterprises aimed to become technology-based enterprises.

Though the adoption of new technologies was advanced than was expected, the efficiency of the research and development management, and of technologies driving business presented the management of all enterprises with a challenge!

“According to our R&D management training and case studies in over ten years, we found that there was a learning map for the technological paths of research and development strategy. We have summarized and concluded the learning channels of referential significance such as the evolution of structures, research and development management, product management, quality management and other professional channels, as well as the data middle platform to which enterprises pay attention, all of which are the key competence for a technology-based organization, just like the props and the load-bearing walls of a house.” Liu Fuqiang presented the model of research and development strategy of technology-based enterprises.

Everyone knew that in an organization, the key positions served such supporting role of competence, and any organization depended on the core and potential talents to give a boost to its development. “Every year we had more than 500 inner training or consulting activities for different enterprises and found some general rules: the ability building of professional channels in a business organization corresponds to professional teams or position sequences, and the improvement and expansion of competence become the important central points and pivots around which an organization evolves. We hope such discoveries can be refined into a learning map of competence in key positions, by which to serve more innovative persons and enterprises, and help them come to the fore in this age of technology.

At present, all enterprises had realized “technology empowerment” could bring an organization better replicability and sustainability. For that purpose, msup propelled an organization to grow exponentially by means of technological innovation. Through continuous exploration and innovation, it had gathered more than 2,000 innovation consultants and technology coaches. At present, msup had cooperated with more than 3,000 technology- based enterprises and academic institutions, and trained more than 150 thousand on-the-job mid-to-high end technical management personnel.

Hua Ning, the senior director of IEEE in Asia Pacific region, said in his speech, IEEE was the largest engineering and technology association in the world, and had more than 400 thousand members in 160 countries across the globe. Each year, IEEE held more than 1,000 international conferences globally, the technical articles in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics and computer science published each year accounted for one third of all such literature in the world, and IEEE was also one of the global authoritative standards organizations. It had established and published more than 900 industry standards including the WI-FI standard. IEEE established a representative institution in China in 2007, for which it formed a closer relationship with the academic community and the engineering sector. At present, the world was facing the challenges of the global pandemic and climate change.

Technology and innovation would be the important strength to overcome such challenges, in which IEEE and the scientific and technical corporations and organizations would involve themselves. It was a glad thing to see today msup and IEEE TEMS had achieved a strategic cooperation. He hoped both parties would cooperate deeply in technical exchanges, talent training, organizational innovation and other aspects, and promote more innovation-type companies and organizations to contribute to the global technological development.

Chen Zelong, the chairman of IEEE TEMS (Technology and Engineering Management Society) said in his speech, “the membership of IEEE TEMS has achieved a huge increase in Asia Pacific region, and the cooperative partners in education also increased. IEEE TEMS feels glad to cooperate with msup, the biggest research, management, training and advisory body in China that is to participate in the global cooperative partnership program. IEEE TEMS and msup will cooperate to take several cooperative measures and benefit both parties. We look forward to further expanding the influence of TEMS in China.”

Hu Shiyan, the chairman of the professional education committee of IEEE TEMS (Technology and Engineering Management Society), said in his speech, msup was a professional technology consulting and training service company. It gathered the senior consultants from Top 500 internet companies in the world, and provided many enterprises with consulting and training solutions concerning IT technology, products, operation and team management. msup established itself in the forefront of business and technology, had its business covering more than 40 industries, and had become a think tank focusing on the rapid development of technology-based enterprises.

What made an excellent complement was the fields to which IEEE TEMS paid attention included various scientific theories and practice of management needed to define, apply and manage engineering technology. IEEE TEMS specially focused on how to market the product service from creativity, how to identify and successfully carry out projects and systems, how to integrate technology in order to improve productivity, and how to train the engineers to be leaders. IEEE TEMS devoted itself to promoting the technology transformation between the academic community and the engineering sector.

Upon signing the MOU by both parties, msup and IEEE TEMS would immediately start to prepare the white paper, followed by deep cooperation in scientific research, academic activities, academic community building, exchange of visits and communication, and other aspects. The expected results would be reflected in the aspects such as training courses, academic conference, size of organizations and social service. For example, IEEE TEMS would recommend publishing the white paper prepared by msup at the IEEE Spectrum website, would unite with msup to

hold the TOP100 case study summit, and would make efforts to help the trainees of msup go to North America for exchange learning. He believed both parties would surely create a beautiful future with the ideas of sincere cooperation and mutual benefit.

At the conference, the reporter’s present put questions to IEEE TEMS and msup about how to empower the technology-based enterprises, how enterprises should train professional talents complying with the current technology trends, etc. and both parties answered such questions.

Witnessed by the reporters, msup and IEEE TEMS (Technology and Engineering Management Society) swapped contracts and signed, and achieved the strategic cooperation.
