The IoT & AI Challenge is a regional capacity-building and pre-incubation program for High School Students, Senior University Students, and Startups with innovative ideas in the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and related fields.
The Challenge is not just a competition, but a movement for digital transformation. Therefore, it offers training and workshops for the participants and provides them with the necessary support. After the training, participants compete in the local finals.
The Arab IoT & AI Challenge was launched in Egypt in 2016 as the IoT League in collaboration between Intel and the Egyptian government, then expanded to cover Artificial Intelligence to become a regional challenge for 12 countries in the Arab region: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates.
In terms of digital transformation, Africa is poised to benefit from the link between digital and economic growth. We have expanded into Africa to connect with the global map in IoT & AI. The Challenge started in 2020 with Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, Nigeria, Tunisia, and Uganda. Now, in 2023, we will go to Algeria, Tanzania, Mauritius, Rwanda and South Africa.
Now it’s time for Latin America’s turn! 7 countries will participate in the Latin America IoT & AI Challenge for the first time in 2023 to compete with each other. The finals will be held in Costa Rica in October 2023.
